Camden- Reginald Gates, 95, passed away peacefully May 1, 2012 at Betsy Ross Nursing Center where he had been a resident. Mr. Gates was born Feb 19, 1917 in Blue Mt. Lake, NY a son of David & Hulda Payne Gates. He was the youngest of 17 children. On June 26, 1938 he married the former Phyllis Coon of Bolton Landing, NY. She passed away in 1987. Mr. Gates was a logger for most of his life using a team of horses. He had previously worked at the store in Blue Mt. Lake and served as a hunting guide prior to moving to the Camden area in 1947.
Surviving are his daughter, Barbara & Kenneth Babcock, Camden, six grandchildren, Reginald Felker, Robert & Kathy, Kevin, Rodney & Brenda Felker, Cindy Gallagher and fiancé Keith Suits and Delores & James Lints, 7 great grandchildren, John Brazie, Kelly Burnup, Jessica & Josh Centro, Kayla, Destiny, Brandon and Glenda Felker, one great-great grand daughter, Kendra Centro and several niece & nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter & son in law, and grandson, Esther & DeVe Walker, Timothy Walker, another son in law, Robert D. Felker and granddaughter-in-law, Debroagh Felker.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 pm Friday from the Hillside Cemetery (Hillsboro) under the direction of the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Calling hours will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm Friday prior to services at the funeral home, 109 Main Street.
