Camden-John (Jack) E. Washburn, 80, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Rome Memorial Hospital.  He was born February 25, 1932 at the family homestead in Swancott Mills, NY a son of Ralph E. and Olive A. Redmond Washburn.  
     Jack grew up in West Leyden and attended school in West Leyden through his junior year.  He then moved with his parents to Camden, where he graduated from Camden Central School in 1951.  Jack married Marilyn Durgee in August of 1955 and that marriage later ended in divorce.  On March 25, 1983 Jack married Florence Czepiel in Camden. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Arthur Moran Post # 66 in Camden.
     He was employed by Camden Wire for thirty four years, retiring in 1990.  He first worked in the mill and later drove a semi truck.
     Surviving besides his wife Florence is a daughter and son-in-law Julie A. Washburn and Mark James of California; step children, Diane and Roger Turek of Evergreen, CO, Stanley and Brenda Czepiel and Daniel and  Lorrie Czepiel of Boonville, NY; a brother and sister-in-law Roy and Gloria Washburn of Bandera, Texas and a brother-in-law, Richard Foster, Sarasota, Florida.  He was predeceased by a son,  James Washburn: two sisters, Betty Carlson and Bertha Foster and a brother Byron Washburn.
     In accordance with Jack’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.  Arrangements are under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY

So sorry for your loss. Jack was like an Uncle to me, may he rest in peace. I will always think of Jack every hunting season.

I am very sorry to hear of Jack's passing.

Jack was always so good to my sister and me when we visited from Virginia.

He will be missed.

So very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I worked with Jack for many years driving for Camden Wire. I always considered him a real friend.
