Kenneth A. Hand, Jr., 72, of Taberg, NY passed away Sunday February 12, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born in Rome, NY on October 18, 1944 a son of Gertrude Fiedler & Kenneth A. Hand, Sr. and was a 1964 graduate of Rome Free Academy. He joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. On Nov 17, 1968 he married Susan Smith in Taberg, NY. Ken retired from Revere Copper & Brass in 2012 after 44 years as a machinist. In 1982 he and Susan graduated from the Eastern School of Farriery. Ken had worked as a self-employed Farrier for 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop, traveling and most of all his family.
Surviving besides his beloved wife, Susan are, a daughter, Pamela Jean Hand & Paul Kallfelz, Taberg, NY, a son, Kenneth A. Hand, III & Kimberley Snyder, Millville, NJ, one grandson, Johnny Bajnoczy & Krystal, and those that became family; Elaine Marshall, Mike & Renee’ Archer, Rosie Ball & Rich, Fonda Garrett & Gene, Nick Cosimeno & Mary and Kenny Coonrod, five sisters in law, Sharon Cosimeno, Pat Cosimeno, Eleanor & Steve Moran, Carol & Dan Barton and Beth Onderko, two brother in laws, Gene & Cathy Smith, Bob & Val Smith, his God children, Daniel, Michelle ‘Macaroon’ and Robert, a half-brother, Edward and two half-sisters, Sherry and Gail, and many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard Fiedler and special family members Christine Coonrod and Ed Cosimeno. Anyone who was lucky enough to know Ken, knew what a special man he was. He touched the lives of so many. He will be remembered for so many beautiful things, especially his big heart and contagious smile.
Funeral services will be held 7:00pm Friday from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Calling hours will be held from 4-7pm prior to services at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Rome Humane Society in lieu of flowers
