Camden-Joan C. Wheeler, 73, passed away peacefully, May 28, 2012, after a long illness. She was born the daughter of L. Albert & Caroline Heuslein Axt on September 29, 1938, in Glenn Ridge, NJ. After high school and college Joan moved to Camden in 1971 and became employed in 1975 as a customer service representative with H.G. Ellis Insurance in Camden, retiring in 2009. On October 8, 1983 Joan was united in marriage to William Wheeler in Camden, NY. Bill passed away June 4, 2010.
Joan enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. She enjoyed vacationing in Southampton, NY. During the past four years it would be unusual not to see her marching in the color guard for the Camden Continental Fife and Drum Corp. Joan loved doting on her dogs, Maggie and Rosie.
Joan is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Clark, Camden, and Naomi & Louis Steppello, Canastota, two sons, Andrew P, & Susan Clark, Camden, and Matthew S. Clark, Enon, OH, a special cousin, Charles Seebach, Ardmore, PA, four stepchildren, Lynda Wheeler, Franklinville, NY, Steve & Judy Wheeler, Melbourne, FL, Chrissy & Mark Schindlbeck, Franklinville, NY, and Mark & Teresa Wheeler, Dallas, GA and nineteen grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, 11:00 am from the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8pm.
