Camden-Florence L. Wallis, 72, passed June 2, 2012, at the Oneida Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness. She was born August 31, 1939, a daughter of Warren & Thelma Meeker Flagg, in Camden, NY. Florence was a 1957 graduate of Camden High School. On September 9, 1961, in Camden, NY, Florence was united in marriage to Norman E. Wallis. Her years of employment were many, beginning with O’Shea’s Plumbing, Camden Central School’s, as secretary for Bruce Brement, worked in manufacturing for Laribee Wire, Camden, Wire, Omega Wire, and Harden Furniture, and customer service for Kinney Drugs.
Florence was a former member of Theta Rho, member of the Arthur S. Moran- American Legion Post #66, Auxiliary, where she currently held the position of secretary, and a member of the United Church of Camden (Presbyterian). She loved bowling, reading, especially the news, and was a NY Yankees’ fan, loved scouting for deer and playing the accordion.
Florence was a mother of three and is survived by her husband Norman, Sr., a son, Norman & Lorrie Wallis, Camden, son-in-law, George Wing, her nine loving grandchildren, three sisters, Caroline & Clifford Rowlands, Deerfield, Thelma Ammann, Camden, and Marge Wheeler, Pulaski, two brothers, Alfred & Arlene Flagg, Vienna, and Jerry & Bernice Flagg, Camden, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Penny Wing, Dec 20,1999, a son Brian, Aug 28, 2007, and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, at the Larobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours are from Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Camden Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary or the Camden Ambulance.
