Johnny C. Lance, 66, of Taberg, NY passed away quietly on December 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with Amyloidosis, a rare disease affecting his heart. He was born on October 8, 1952, in Cottage Grove, Oregon to Vernon and Martha Jane Lance; both predeceasing him. John was married on July 30th, 1977 to the former Linda Littler in Camden, NY. They lived happily together for the past 41 years in Taberg, NY. He was employed at International Wire as a machine operator for 38 years, retiring in January 2018. Prior to that, he was a member of the United States Air Force, serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

John had an amazing capacity for fixing or building anything one could imagine. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed working with his hands. John was an animal lover and could often be seen in the company of even the most irritable of cats. He had a quiet way but could be counted on to make you laugh in tough times with a quick wit and twinkle in his eyes. John and Linda were planning on spending their retirement years going fishing and holding hands. His passing came without pain, having the opportunity to kiss Linda on the cheek and telling her that he loved her.

John is survived by his wife, Linda Lance, Taberg, NY; a daughter, Lonnie & Michael Caiafo of MA; a son, Christopher & Melissa Lance of VA, and daughter, Jennifer Craft. John is also survived by two brothers, Joe Lance of CA, Bill Lance of NV; three sisters, Margaret, Dee, and Ruth, all of CA. He had a very special relationship with his Godson and great-nephew, Bailey Carpenter, his “Buddy” of Boonville, NY. In addition, he leaves behind several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. As mentioned, he is predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Martha Jane Lance, formerly Martha Jane Walls of NV in addition to his mother-in-law, Monica Stinebrickner of Taberg, NY; and brother Earl Lance of NV. He also shared a good friendship with Gary Skellington of Williamstown, NY.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 2-5:00 p.m. at the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY.
