Donald E. Congden, Sr. 88, of Vienna, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday Oct 13, 2019  at the VA Medical Center, Syracuse, NY. He was born Sept 7, 1931 in the Town of Amboy, NY a son of Guy & Pearl McGee Congden and was a 1951 graduate of Camden high School. He had entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and was assigned to the 366th Maintenance Squadron (TAC) until his discharge in 1954. On April 16, 1953 he married the former Shirley Bourgeois in St. John’s Church, Camden, NY. She passed away Dec 2, 1995. Don was a self-employed logger for most of his life beginning his business Congden Logging in 1964 and retiring from logging and firewood sales as Donald Congden and Son Logging in 2015. He also worked as a sub-contractor for the Harden Furniture Co., during that time.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia ‘Ginny’ Nevills, Camden, NY, Annette & Curt Cartwright, Verona, NY and two sons, Donald & Carol Congden,Jr and Michael & Melissa Congden all of Camden, NY, 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Stanley ‘Buzz’ Congden, a daughter in law, Sandra Congden, a grandson, Justin Nevills, three brothers, Victor, Rodger and Arthur Congden and a sister, Loretta Price.
Memorial services will be held 7:00pm Friday from the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Private graveside services will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Camden, NY. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 – 7pm at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Forest Park, Camden, NY in lieu of flowers.

To Don's Family. I want to extend my condolences to you all on your loss. Don was a loyal member of the Camden High Class of 1951, attending our class picnics every year since it's inception and termination. Sending prayers to comfort his family and friends. Donny, Mike Ginny and Annette and families. I'm so sorry, I just found about your Dad. I hope the memories you have and memories shared by his friends and yours of him help you through this heartbreaking loss. He was loved and respected by so many. Our family was so lucky to have called him a friend. Sending my condolences to all of you.

Sorry to hear of the loss. My dad , Guy and Don loved tinkering on some dozer, loader or machinery and visiting.
