“The Answer is Janice R. Abrams”

      Mrs. Janice R. Abrams, 86, of Camden, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare in Utica, NY. She was born on December 14, 1932 in Rome, NY, daughter of George, Sr. and Dorothy Higham Rung. Janny graduated from Camden Central High School in 1950 and attended nursing school at Utica State Hospital School of Nursing and finished in New York City. Her long and varied career included Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical Unit Secretary, Insurance Verifier, Dog Enumerator, Census Taker and apple picker.

      Jan’s interests included genealogy, crossword puzzles, gardening, bird watching and attending performances of the Central NY State Olde Tyme Fiddler’s Association, where her husband Bob Abrams played bass. She was a member of the GFWC and the Historical Club of Camden. Jan was widely known for welcoming friends and family into her life and home.

      Surviving Jan are her husband, Robert M. Abrams, her five children and their spouses, Kat Watts & Dick Bergstrom, Laurene & Randy Blowers, Lisa Mullen, Michael & Michelle Fitzgerald and Daniel & Jennifer Fitzgerald from her first marriage to the late Staff Sergeant E. Fitzgerald. Also four step-children, William Abrams and Susan Goffman, Tom & Lea Abrams, Julie Abrams-Bernier & Uli Bernier and Sarah & David Winner, 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cluster 13, 84 Main Street, Camden, NY 13316 or a charity of one’s choice. A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at a later date to be announced. Interment Maple Hill Cemetery, Taberg, NY.

      The question of the day is “Who is the heart of the family?”

      Arrangements are under the direction of the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY.

To Bob & the family, my condolences to all of you. Jan and I grew up together
and shared a lot of memories, joy & laughter through the years. Our friendship endured throughout our life. I shall miss her dearly.
