Eileen “Babe” Grinnell, 79, of Camden, NY passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at her home with her beloved family by her side. She was born in Camden, NY on September 22, 1940 a daughter of George & Katharine Burns Blanchard. On July 4, 1959, she married Howard “Skip” Grinnell. Mr. Grinnell passed away Nov 30, 2004.

She worked many years in several different wire mills (Laribee Wire Mill 1959-1979, Rome Cable 1979-1982, International Wire 1982-2003). She was the first female supervisor in these businesses.

She was an avid bowler, member of the Camden Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and member of the Camden United Methodist Church. Her family was her life. She lived every day for them, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved watching them in their sports, dance, school concerts, plays, and other school events and activities.

She touched the lives of everyone she met, and always left a lasting impression on them. If you couldn’t find her or she didn’t answer her phone, she was at her second home, the Bingo Hall. On December 11, she hit her jackpot. Even if there was a storm or she wasn’t feeling her best, she always went to the casino with her sisters and daughter.

Eileen is survived by her children Joe & Traci, Char, Tucker & Gail, Jim, Sherrie & Ken, and Peggy & Dave, brother George & Marion, sisters Patricia Bates and Katie Seymore, brothers-in-law Alan & “Bicky” Grinnell and Ron & Lynnell Grinnell, sister-in-law Barb Brown, seventeen grandchildren, and twenty nine great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Ann and two sisters, Charlene and Emma Jean.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Hospice and all of her healthcare providers for the care that they provided.

Funeral services will be held 5:00pm Saturday from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Calling hours will be held from 2-5 pm prior to services at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Camden Vol. Fire Dept., and/or Hospice & Palliative Care, New Hartford, NY.

I am so saddened to read this. Babe was a fire cracker and a wonderful person. Her spunk was one that I wished more people had she was kind but yet she wasn’t afraid to tell u how she felt. She truly was a amazing person. I loved seeing her and would say I hope I have half your spunk when I am ur age. Hugs and love to the family. And Babe I can’t wait to play bingo with you in heaven.

I thank our Lord Almighty for the privilege of knowing this precious lady. The Lord blessed her with a long and beautiful journey on this earth but we who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will see her again. For now it is just good bye but the scriptures promise we will see her again. Lord bless the Grinnell family during her time of departure. Let's celebrate her life.
