Baldwinsville-Jane M. Cleveland 67, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away on Monday August 6, 2012 at Crouse Hospital.  Jane was born on March 13, 1945 in Camden, NY to Leon and Ethel Sutter Tanner.
She graduated from Camden High School in 1962 and recently attended her 50th reunion.  In 1965 Jane graduated from the Crouse Irving Nursing School.  She worked for the Crouse Hospital and the Albany Medical Center.  Jane then moved to California where she continued to work in the nursing field.  While there, she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree.  She retired in 2000 from Scripps Clinic in San Diego, CA.
In 2001 illness caused her to move from her beloved San Diego  home of over thirty years, to the Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville to be nearer to her sister.  Jane loved to travel, enjoyed music, singing and playing the guitar.  She had a special fondness for cats and nature and like the butterfly, she is now free.
Surviving is her sister, Darlene Tanner of Syracuse; a niece, Barbara (Michael) Bullock of St. Joseph, MO; two aunts, Flora Hurlbut of East Syracuse and Marion (John) Finster of Lee Center, NY, several cousins and special friends.  She was predeceased by her sister Joyce Crouch.
Memorial services will be held 11:00A.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Baldwinsville, 64 Oswego St. There will be a reception, with lunch, to follow at the church.  There will be no calling hours.  Contributions may be made to the Syracuse Home Activities Fund, 7740 Meigs Rd., Baldwinsville, NY 13027.  The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Syracuse Home.  LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc. Dear Darlene,
I recognized Jane after reading in the paper. I remember when she visited your Mother & I stopped by with the girls. Jane would sit out on the stoop for a "smoke". We still refer to the house as Mrs. Tanner's. I know Jane hasn't been well & it was a good thing for her to be closer to you. I also saw she was at her 50th reunion-Jim & I were both at the Alumni dinner that night. I wish I had seen her. Please know you are in my thoughts. We are in the same place if you drive by stop & say hello. Sincerely,Gail McEntire

Dear Darlene and family-----We were sorry to read about Jane's passing--unfortunately we did not read about until this morning ( Thursday- 8/16) and were unable to attend service at church. I know it wasn't an easy path for either of you over the course of the last few years---she was fortunate to have a caring sister, other relatives and friends who cared about her. We will remember her fondly---like the obit stated---she is now free.

Dear Darlene,
May wonderful memories help you in your grieving. Jane was a special, spiritual woman. She was a delightful roommate in nursing school. I am glad I got a chance to see her in Carlsbad many years ago. I will miss her fun, upbeat Christmas letters.
