Camden- Jessie I. Williams 104, formerly of North Park Street, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Lutheran Care Home, Clinton, NY. She was born February 10, 1908 in Glenmore, NY a daughter of Clark and Lillian Adey Wellman. Jessie was a 1925 graduate of Rome Free Academy and attended the Utica School of Commerce. She was employed at the former Portner Lumber Company, the Ford dealership in Rome, then Griffiss Air Force Base in Payroll and Accounting, retiring in 1973.
On May 18, 1935 she married Henry O. Williams in Taberg, NY. They lived in the Lee area for most of their lives. He died in February of 1967. She was a member of the Annsville Senior Citizens, Lee United Methodist Church and its U.M. Women. She spent several winters in Florida. In her later years, she resided with her daughter and son in law, Joan & Dale Sherwood before becoming a resident of the Lutheran Care Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Lutheran Home-Valley Crest Wing for their loving care and compassion.
She is survived by two daughters, Joan Sherwood , Camden; Sandra & Paul Rice, Bolton Landing, NY; a son, Gerald & Elizabeth Williams, Seminole, FL; eight grandchildren; Bryon, David and Richard Sherwood, Camden, Terri Wilder, Newton, NJ, Scott Rice, Valhalla, Kristin Phelps, Schenectady, Lisa Bechtold, Webster and Eric Williams, Arundel, ME, twenty-two great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a brother Maynard R. Wellman and son in law, Dale Sherwood.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm Friday at the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc. Camden, NY Spring interment Lee State Road Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 1-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Contributions may be made to the Lee United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Terri Salisbury, 4816 State Route 69, Rome, NY 13440.
