Clinton-Doris A. Wendt, 96, passed away on April 3, 2013 at the Lutheran Home, Clinton, NY.  She was born May 18, 1916, a daughter of Richard A. and Gladys Wheeler Wood in Vienna, NY.  Doris was a member of the 1934 graduating class from Camden High School. She was employed for thirty-three years as a Staff Supervisor at Rome Developmental Center, retiring in 1971. On June 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Milton C. Wendt in Rome, NY.  Her husband predeceased her in June of 1985.
      In 1957 Doris moved from Rome to Sherrill, NY also living in Florida from 1972 until moving to Clinton, NY in 2002.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Verona and former communicant of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Port St. Lucie, FL, where Doris served on the church council, altar guild, and was the originator and editor of the church newsletter for many years.  She was active in many organizations including DAR, Skenandoah Chapter, Oneida Castle, NY, American Legion Auxiliary Post #230, Sherrill, NY, Queen Esther Rebekah Lodge, Rome, NY, CSEA of NY State, and the Hope Circle of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, FL.
     Surviving Doris are several nieces and nephews; Richard Canfield, Rome, Thelma Chase, Oneida, Al Downs, Blossvale, Debbie Joyner, Williamstown, Paula Millson, Verona, Ed Kent, Camden, Mike Kent, Eustis, FL, Scott Kent, San Antonio, TX, Beverly Noble, Verona and special friends, Rose Jones, Frankfort and Lois Dervis, Port St. Lucie, FL and many great nieces and nephews along with their families.   Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Wood, Nora Kent, Alice Roser and her brother George Wood.
     Funeral services will be held 3 pm Sunday, April 7, 2013 at LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc.  Spring Burial St. Peter’s Cemetery, Verona.  Calling hours will be held 1 to 3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home, 109 Main St., Camden, NY.
Contributions may be made in memory of Doris to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Verona, NY.
