North Bay-Karen E.Washburn, 75, passed away September 19, 2013, at the Rome Memorial Hospital, Rome, NY. She was born June 24, 1938, a daughter of Donald and Aurora Hache’ Mace in Tupper Lake, NY. She was employed for over twenty years as a Registered Nurse in maternity at the St. Luke’s Hospital in New Hartford, NY. Karen lived in the Utica area moving to North Bay over twenty years ago. She was previously married to Richard Short then married Cecil Washburn; he passed away May 10, 2001. Karen was a member of the Sylvan Beach American Legion Post #1153 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving Karen are two daughters, Barbara Short, Rome, NY, and Amy Short, Atlanta, GA, three sons, Richard Short, Whitesboro, NY, Scott Short, Miami Beach and Gallipoli, Italy, and Christopher Short, Litchfield , NH, five grandchildren, Allen, Andre, Audrey, Tarik, and Michaela, and one sister, Leslie Knoll, Long Lake, NY. She was predeceased by one brother, Sanford Mace.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY. Contributions may be made in Karen’s memory to the Sylvan Beach American Legion #1153 Ladies Auxiliary.
