I first met Verna several years ago at a July 4 picnic at Judy & Jim Moore's where Graydon and Verna's birthdays were celebrated. She wore a birthday hat that had felt candles on top that I had brought to the gathering. Last year when I saw her, she told me she wore the hat every year. She was a lovely, kind-hearted woman whom I am honored to have met and shared time with. May she rest in peace. Sincere sympathy to her family and many friends. She will be missed.

May I express the sympathy of the Col. Marinus Willett-Mohawk Valley Chapter DAR. I unexpectedly stopped by to visit her at the Retirement Home in Rome a couple years ago. She was out shopping with the group and I thought how wonderful that she can be out and about. While I waited until her return, I visited with another resident I had known through my daughter. Time passes quickly and when Verna returned she was happy to see me, as I was to see her. She was a lovely lady. God rest her soul and bless her family.
