Florence- Joseph G. ‘Duke’ Clark 66, of River Road passed away unexpectedly Tuesday October 29, 2013. He was born Nov 9, 1946 in Florence, NY a son of Joseph H. & Margaret V. Graves Clark and was a 1964 graduate of Camden High School. Joe then served with the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a hospital corpsman aboard the U.S.S. Repose, also known as the ‘Angel of the Orient’ which treated over 9,000 battle casualties and 24,000 inpatients, mostly marines and sailors during its deployment. Back home, Joe previously served with the Florence Vol. Fire Dept and as a Highway Superintendent for the Town of Florence. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Ellen Powers, Rome, and Margaret & Stanley Washeleski, Taberg, NY, two brothers, Mark & Della Clark, Camden, NY and John Clark, Syracuse, NY, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00am Saturday from St. Patrick’s Church Taberg, NY under the direction of the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Camden, NY. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Florence, NY. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Florence Vol. Fire Dept., or St. Mary’s Church Restoration Fund.

I was saddened to hear the news of Joe's recent passing. I recall the good times we had at Canton College and the many laughs we shared. My thoughts and prayers go out to Joe and all of his family. He surely will be missed. God bless.
