Blossvale---Arloe R. Crandall, 79, of 2836 Cook Rd. Blossvale died Sunday May 15, 2016 in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Utica after a brief illness.
Arloe was born on April 18, 1937 in Syracuse the son of Ralph M. and Alida M. Jones Crandall. A lifelong resident of the central New York area he was a graduate of Central Square High School class of 1954 where he played on the football, basketball and baseball teams.
Following High School, he served with the US Navy from July of 1954 until he was honorably discharged in 1958. On February 20, 1959 he married Norma Woodcock in the Camden United Methodist Church and they have been married for 57 years.
Arloe was a hard worker. He had been employed at Griffis Air Force Base and Serway Brothers. He also worked on his father-in-law’s dairy farm. In 1965 he opened he founded Crandall’s Woodworking and for the next 35 years he was a woodworking specialist and specialized in wood cabinets and countertops. He retired in 2000.
He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and also loved to watch the SU Basketball team and the New York Yankees. Despite the fact that they couldn’t hear him, he was known to yell obscenities at the tv when his teams weren’t playing well. He also enjoyed playing poker with his brothers and sister at family reunions and with his Saturday night cronies.
Surviving is his loving wife Norma, four daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) Whalen of Oneida, Nanette (Everett) Tobiasson of West Turin, Rebecca (Stanley) Grose of Ilion and Amy (Andrew) Lippert of Carlisle, PA; 10 grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Wickham and Ryan’s father Steven Wickham, Patrick (Kate) Tobiasson, Richard and Emma Tobiasson, Victoria and Jacquelyne Hendrix, Anna, Grace, Nathaniel and Catherine Lippert; 10 great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Peyton, Natalia, Jasper, Sawyer, Christen, Caleb, Mattie, Myiah and Fiona, a sister, Linda (Tom) Hitchcock, Port Byron, NY and a brother, Gary (Adrienne) Crandall, Seffner, FL and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a grandson Christopher Wickham and four brothers, Ralph, LeRoy, Scott and William; and five sisters, Loretta Marcley, Leta Preston, Norma Hodge, Shirley Voutsinas and Karen Voutsinas.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday May 23, 2016 from the LaRobardiere Funeral Home Inc. 109 Main Street Camden NY with Rev. Paul Mathis officiating.  Interment will be made in McConnellsville Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call 4-7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In his memory contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assn. 6390 Fly Road, E. Syracuse, NY   13057.

May Arloe's family and friends be comforted by God's promise to "swallow up death forever, and wipe away every tear from all faces". (Isaiah 25:8) Remembering too the promise of the resurrection for both the Unrighteous and Righteous. (24:15)
