Gerald N. “Unc” Scott, 92, a lifelong resident of Blossvale, NY passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. He was born March 26, 1928 in Blossvale, NY, a son of Northrup & Minnie Belle Patrick Scott and attended Camden High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946. On November 15, 1952, he married the former Jeanette O’Connell in Rome, NY. Mrs. Scott passed away January 9, 2020. Gerald worked for the Oneida County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator for 40 years before retiring in 1988. He also worked 43 years with Lynn Scott Trucking as a mechanic, retiring in 1990.

He was a lifetime member of the Blossvale Fishing and Hunting Club, long time member of Blossvale Volunteer Fire Department, and participated in the startup of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. He was always willing to lend an extra hand to any area farmer that needed it.

Surviving are two daughters, Valerie & Robert Garrett, Rexford, NY and Pamela & Tim Luther, Verona, NY , five grandchildren, Todd & Mara Luther, Corey & Leana Finster, Paul Cox, Jr., Kelly & Kevin Kolmetz, Robert & Gabrielle Garret, seven great grandchildren, Elayna & William Kolmetz, Bo Luther, Evelyn Garrett, Case, Laila and Leigha Finster along with several nieces & nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Judy Campbell, grandson, John Finster, four brothers, Walter, Ellsworth, Kermit and Lynn Scott and his cat, Patches.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, funeral arrangements under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY, will be private. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, Camden, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Taberg Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad, 9066 Meadows Road, Taberg, NY 13471.

I worked with "Unc" at the Taberg garage back in the early '70s.. Always has a good time with him as he was quite the ball buster there. Tried to keep tabs on him through the years stopping to say hi whenever I saw him sitting in his garage. He always enjoyed the front row seat I would give him at the Camden St. Patrick's parade. He was a good friend who will be sadly missed... RIP Unc, Dave and Penny Massey
