William (Billy) Thomas Bruce,64 of Middlesex, North Carolina, formerly of Scriba, New York, and Bradenton, Florida passed away on July 8,2020. Born and raised in Scriba, Billy was the son of the late Charles and Ruth (Shellington) Bruce. He attended Mexico Academy and Central School and served 17 years in the United States Navy. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving on the USS Bauselle. While living in Bradenton, Florida he started and ran for 13 years, The Helping of Grace Ministry at The Church of the Cross which was a ministry for the homeless and needy. Billy worked at Carrier Corp in Syracuse, Tropicana in Florida and six years at the Avanta Nursing Home in Wilson, North Carolina and later worked on air conditioner repairs. Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and sports. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with his eight grandchildren. Billy had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Eric Bruce. Billy is survived by his son Daniel and daughter-in law Carla, grandchildren Daniel Jr., Alicia, Isiah, Zachariah, Hannah, Joy, Joshua and Elizabeth, his siblings: June copper of Huron, Ohio, Charles Jr., of Osceola, New York, Robert of Scriba, New York, Sandra Maschino of Bradenton, Florida, Jacqueline Gainey, shelly Price, Richard, Frank, all of Scriba, New York and several nieces and nephews. Billy is also survived by his best friend and cousin Joe Wills of Scriba, New York. Services for family and friends will be held at a later date when Corona Virus is under control. Billy will be buried in Minetto Cemetery next to his mother and father per his wishes
