Music by The Piano Brothers

Charles “Chuck” William Hurd, Jr., 58, of Camden, NY, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 31, 2020. He was born February 9, 1962 in Rome, NY, the son of Charles W. & Gloria Revette Hurd, Sr.  Chuck was a Camden High School graduate in the Class of 1980 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction from Utica College in 1984. He worked a number of years in the construction industry with JM Door, Law Brothers, JB Stringer, Midstate Construction, and Contracting Management. He was most recently employed as the Purchasing Manager for Briggs & Stratton for the past 13 years and took great pride in his work. Chuck was a dedicated member of the Camden Lions Club, serving in many positions over the years including President. In 2016, Chuck was awarded with the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest form of recognition that a Lion can receive for their charitable work. Chuck loved to play board games and was an avid Gen Con Enthusiast as well as a member of the CNY Tabletop Game Society and Westchester Gaming Group. He was of the Christian faith and member of the Queen Village Bible Church. He took great joy in spending time with his wife and children and playing with his grandchildren, whether it be swimming in the pool, miniature golfing, or getting an ice cream cone. Chuck was a gentle soul taken from this Earth too early.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth, son Charles & Ashley Hurd, III, daughters Erin & Ryan Tyreman, and Kelly & Kyle Woodcock, eight grandchildren, Brooke, Payton, Connor, Chase, Henry, Samuel, Noah and Oliver, with a ninth grandchild on the way, as well as his best feline friend, Emma, and favorite grand-dog Elsa; his parents, Charles W.  & Gloria Hurd, Sr. siblings; Timothy & Kathy, Nancy & Tom, Mathew, Kenneth & Brandi, Andrew & Jennifer and Jeanine, his father and mother-in-law, Charles H. & Judith Sills, siblings-in-law, Margaret & Thom Penny, Chris & Thom Stricklin, and a great many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved godchildren, Abigale Pauline Hurd and Ryan Matthew Penny. Chuck was an honest, genuine man with a pure heart and a laugh that was catching. His quick wit, wide smile, and bear hugs will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 4-6:00 pm and Saturday from 9-11:00am from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY. Masks and social distancing will apply. Funeral services and interment will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at the family’s residence beginning at 4:00pm Saturday afternoon. Donations in Chuck's memory may be made to the Camden Lions Club, P.O. Box 85, Camden, NY, 13316.  You may view obituary and send a message of condolence online at www.larobardierefuneralhome.com.
