Margaret E. Furness, 100, of Camden, NY, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday evening, September 17, 2020. She was born in Schenectady, NY on February 13, 1920, a daughter of Aaron & Florence (Linsler) Tillema, and was a graduate of Altamont High School.

During WWII, Margaret sewed baseballs for the Wilson sporting goods company. She later worked at General Electric for many years before moving to the Camden area in 1963, where she worked for the N.J. Currie Drug Store for many years. Peg was an accomplished artist. Many of her paintings are displayed throughout the area. She was also a member of the former Hillsboro Garden Club, and enjoyed reading, collecting dolls and loved clowns. She had also attended the former United Church of Camden (Presbyterian) and Trinity Episcopal Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Joseph F. Furness, on November 11, 1991.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Fosdick, Camden, NY, a son, Michael Furness, Florence, NY, three grandchildren; David Fosdick, Mark Fosdick and Kelly Forsyth, seven great-grandchildren; Kurtis, Lily, Sarah, Mackenzie, Connor, Hannah and Christian, along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Florence and her brothers, Robert and Eugene Tillema. Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY.  Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Florence, NY.
