Elaine Marie Kirby Britton 70, of Camden, NY passed away unexpectedly December 31, 2020 at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY on July 4, 1950, a daughter of Donald F. & Reata Mae Sauer Kirby and was a 1968 graduate of Camden High School. She worked for the former Rochester Shoe Tree and later retired in 1997 from a 25-year career with Camden Wire Co. It was then that Elaine attended MVCC to study Hotel Hospitality and graduated in 1999. She was active with the Annsville Friendship Circle, enjoyed making and selling pizza with the Taberg Fire Department during their annual field days. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family in the Adirondacks, Redfield or where ever there was water, she was happy. Elaine attended the United Methodist Church in Camden and Taberg. She was previously married to Philip J. LaPlante and on December 30, 1995 she married Frederick Britton at her childhood homestead in Taberg, NY.
Surviving besides her husband Fred are her daughter, Tammy & Ray Miller, Taberg, son, David & Erin LaPlante, Camden, step daughter, Paige & Todd Zender, Williamstown, her father-in law, G. Grover Britton, Sr, Williamstown, two sisters, Donna & Jim Kirk, Taberg, Barb Stovall, Florida, a brother, Don & Sheri Kirby, Taberg, seven grandchildren; Caleb, Alex, Hannah, Demi, Jocelyn, Logan and Derrik, a great grandson, Kayden, two aunts, Linda K. Furney and Mary Lou Bird, several nieces and nephews and her cats, Sookie, Molly and Lucy. She was predeceased by a grandson, Tyler LaPlante, 2013.
