Barbara Ellen Conniff, 72, of Camden, NY passed away June 29, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.  She was born December 13, 1948 in Rochester, NY and grew up in Hamburg, NY before attending college at SUNY Potsdam where she was an active member of Omega Delta Phi sorority. After graduating in 1971, she went on to teach English at Camden Middle School for 33 years.

Barbara lived her life to care for others. One of five children, Barbara was happiest in the presence of family. She helped care for and is predeceased by her parents Lester and Trudy Mosher, as well as her brother Lawrence Mosher.

On July 5th, 1980 she married Robert Conniff and remained faithfully married for more than 40 years. Barbara was especially proud of her family and was a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to husband Robert, she is survived by her three children, Rachel Santiago (Mike Carter), Mary Lustig (Daniel Lustig), Owen Conniff (Sabattis Twichell Conniff)  and six grandchildren:  Sheldon, Marcus, Gwenna, Gray, Charlie, and Edelweiss.  Barb is also survived by three loving siblings: sisters Joan (Robert Difulgentiz) and Julie (Mark Kleiman), and brother Bruce (Carol Mosher), as well as many loving nieces and nephews and their families.

Barb loved being part of the Camden community. She was active in the Kiwanis Club for many years as well as the Red Hat Society. She was also an active member of the Skenandoah chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and served as Chapter Regent for several years.

Her faith in God was unwavering and Barb was an active member of the United Methodist Church for most of her life. At church Barb loved and appreciated the sense of community and shared faith.  She also found joy singing in the church choir for many years. Through her involvement as a teacher, parishioner, Kiwanis, Red Hat, and DAR member, as well as the wife of an active Pontiac Club car collector, Barbara formed an abundance of wonderful friendships, many of which lasted a lifetime.

In her spare time Barb enjoyed reading, traveling, visiting with neighbors and friends, spending time with family, writing cards and letters, and collecting trinkets and dishes.  She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her and whose lives she has enriched.

A memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held on Friday at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church, Camden, NY.  Interment St. John’s Cemetery, Camden, NY. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 -7 pm at LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, New Hartford, NY.  The family of Barbara Conniff wishes to thank those that assisted in her care and long battle with Lewy body dementia in the final years of her life.

Bob, so sorry to hear about Barb’s passing. I’m glad that I was able visit you and Barb a few years ago. Thinking back to our Potsdam days, Barb was a wonderful friend. You and your family are in my thoughts. Take care.
