Clyde E. Phillips, 74, of 641 S. Main St., Central Square, passed away early Friday morning, August 6, 2021, at his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born on November 4, 1946, in West Monroe, the son of Kenneth and Betty Pedersen Phillips.  He was a 1964 graduate of Paul V. Monroe High School in Central Square.

On September 28, 1964, Clyde proudly enlisted in the United States Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged on September 12, 1967.

On November 11, 1967, Clyde was united in marriage to Rebecca Revoir in North Syracuse.

Clyde was a foreman for JPW Companies in E. Syracuse for thirty-six years.  He also served as a part-time Police Officer for the Village of Central Square for fifteen years.

He was a member of the Central Square American Legion Post 915, and a former member of the B.P.O.E Elks Lodge 2731 in Zephyrhills, FL.  He liked to play cards and enjoyed fishing.  He was an avid golfer and a twenty-five-year member at Greenview Country Club in West Monroe.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Becky, are a son, Ronald Phillips, of Central Square; an aunt and uncle, Bill and Jean Pedersen, of Brewerton; a brother, Dan; several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Phillips.

Becky’s family wishes to express their gratitude to her family, her niece, Tammy Frigon, and nurse, Avis Petersen, for the kindness, compassion, and time that they devoted to Clyde during his illness. Becky and Ron will be eternally grateful.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Hillside Memorial Cemetery.  A Celebration of Clyde’s Life will be held following the graveside services at the Central Square American Legion at 12:00 PM (Noon).  Contributions may be made in Clyde’s memory to the Central Square American Legion, Post 915, or Hospice of Central New York and the Finger Lakes.  Arrangements have been entrusted to LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main St, Camden.  You may view the obituary and send a message of sympathy at www.larobardierefuneralhome.com.

Becky and Ronny, Woody and I are very sorry for your loss. We have so many great memories of time spent with Clyde. Woody enjoyed many rounds of golf and I will never forget his smile and and my many losses to him playing pitch! You are in our thoughts and prayers.

We've talked so much lately about Clyde. Learned alot lately about Walt and Clyde. We still use. The sheet quilt from you and Clyde for our wedding. We feel so bad for Clyde, you and Ron. Walt is upset because we can't make the service. Walt is auto immune complicated right now. Please come by or call anytime. Clyde was a great friend as you were. Our rayers for all of you.

Becky and Ron -- On behalf of all the players in the Tuesday Night Golf League at Northern Pines, I want to express our deepest sympathies at this trying time. Clyde was a member of the league for many years and we were sadden when he had to withdraw from the league a few years ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Becky & Ronnie, I am so very sorry to hear about Clyde. Heaven gained a wonderful man. I bet he’s already playing around of golf and playing cards. Many memories shared with my parents, Kayo and Mary Anne, Becky’s parents Vern and Betty and your family at camp grounds and after camping was finished. You are in my thoughts and prayers!
