Eleanor E. Secor, 103, of Camden, NY passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born May 28, 1918 in Lansing, MI a daughter of John & Frances Domas King. Eleanor was a 1936 graduate of Nativity Commercial High School. Following Beauty School, she opened her own shop in Michigan. In the 1940’s her parents and family moved to Camden, NY. They owned and lived in the former Conant House, home of the current Camden Elementary School. On March 13, 1948 she married Donald Secor in Oneida, NY, a union of 66 years until Don’s passing on August 19, 2015. Eleanor continued her beauty shop out of her home before going to work at Mystic Stamp Co., for several years. Eleanor served as former President of Meeker-O’Rourke Ladies Auxiliary, bowled on several area bowling leagues including a State championship Team. She loved camping at Sto-Ne- Nols Campground and cooking out in Forest Park.
Eleanor was the Rock of the family, strong, quiet, but when she spoke it was usually a funny statement. No mixed words, if you asked her something don’t get offended by the response. Just laugh. Her husband was a stock car driver, she would at times sneak his car out while he was at work and give her sons a ride, that was until she got caught !  Looking forward to a nice dinner was something she enjoyed in her later years.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda & Mark Schwartz, grandchildren; Cheri & John Calnan, Jeff & Justine Gerhardt, Susan Schwartz, Mark & Chalina Schwartz, Rachel Schwartz, Stacy Secor, great grandchildren; Sophia Calnan, Zach Calnan, Honor Gerhardt and Sydney Schwartz and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Bernard Gerhardt and Garry Secor, a grandson, four sisters, Virginia King, Delores (Rae) Woodard, Ramona (Ray) Hague, and Edith (James) Mulholland, and brother & sister -in- law, Bill & Alice Brouse.
We would like to thank all of our family, friends and especially her caregivers, Anna, Julia, Nancy, Ramona, Shirley, Alice, Dawn, Keitha and Karen Kroll, (who became like a daughter to her) who made it possible for her to live in her own home because of your care and compassion.
Graveside services will be held 1:00pm Friday October 1, 2021 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Route 183 Williamstown, NY under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY.  In Eleanor’s memory donations may be made to the Meeker-O’Rourke Ladies Auxiliary Post 1309, 9275 Main St. Taberg, NY 13471 or a Legion of one’s choice.

Linda, Oh my gosh your Mom was amazing. The last time I was up to see you and I visited her , when she was 100, she was still always ready for some sweets and a laugh. Her benevolent spirit will be missed in this world. Love Eleanor , Concord NC
