Obituary

Robert “The Birdman” Lavandowski, 78 of Camden, NY, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY with his family by his side. He was born on November 1, 1942 in Passaic, New Jersey to Charles Lavandowski and Mary Cuoco. He attended school in Patterson, New Jersey.  He joined the US Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1967.  He was a top Army Marksman and a pistol/rifle expert. He was known in the community as “Bob the Birdman”.  He had a love and passion for raising pigeons. He would release his pigeons for various affairs and events in the community.  His neighbors were amazed on how he would make them different colors for the events.  His passion for pigeons led him to become good friends with his favorite boxer, Mike Tyson. Bob also gifted Mike Tyson with his prize and best pigeons.
Bob is survived by his wife, Katherine, 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Son Mark and his sons: Jason, Jimmy and Michael. Daughter Dawn and her son, Bryant Fikes, and grandson Levi. Daughter Jaqueline and her son, Cody Hunt. Daughter Eilene and her loving dogs. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Charlie, his son Kent and son-in-law, Todd Fikes.
